The Senior IP Counsel(Biochemical Assays, Dyes, Reagents, and Imaging Technologies) isresponsible for developing and implementing an IP strategy for ourportfolio of Biochemical Assays, Dyes, Reagents, and ImagingTechnologies. This role involves preparing (mainly using outsidecounsel), maintaining, defending, and enforcing intellectualproperty rights for the Life Science Research Division. Theposition significantly impacts the organization by activelyparticipating in product definition and development based oncompetitive intelligence, and by conducting due diligence for theacquisition of new companies to strengthen market position anddefend against third-party challenges.

This position reports to theChief IP Counsel and is part of the IP department l ocated inWetzlar or Mannheim and will be an on-site role.

In this role, youwill have the opportunity to:

• Develop and implement acomprehensive IP strategy for the Life Science Research Division.
• Prepare mainly (using outside counsel),maintain, and enforce patents in the areas of assays, dyes,reagents, and related imaging technologies.
• Provide strategic input during product development and definitionphases.
• Conduct competitive intelligence toinform IP strategy and product development.
• Lead due diligence efforts during the acquisition of new companies.
• Defend against potential third-party IPchallenges to protect the company’s market position.
• Negotiate, draft, and review IP-relatedagreements, including licensing and collaboration agreements.

Theessential requirements of the job include:

• A qualification asNational and European Patent Attorney or even as US patent attorneyis a preference .
• An advanced degree inbiochemistry or a related field. A Phd degree is preferred but notnecessary.
• Strong intellectual propertyexperience, including hands-on experience in prosecuting patentsthroughout at least Europe and the US.
• Mustbe able to speak and write in English at an advanced level.
• Proven experience in disputes pertaining USpatents in the relevant field
• Experience indeveloping and implementing IP strategies within the life sciencessector.

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/EnvironmentRequirements:

Ability to travel up to15%, including overnight stays

It would be a plusif you also possess previous experience in:

• Solid experience indrafting and negotiating IP-related agreements.
• Proven track record in conducting duediligence for mergers and acquisitions.
• Experience working in a matrixed organization.
