To support this focus area, Amazon is seekingan experienced Safety Engineer to join the Safety Engineering teamsupporting International Operations. Key job responsibilities Theindividual will play a critical role to ensure high standards ofsafety are built into systems and processes across new and legacyFulfillment Centers, Sort Centers and Delivery Stations outside ofNorth America. The successful candidate will validate vendorproposed technical safety solutions and work in partnership withinternal engineering and reliability maintenance teams to ensureright first time, legally compliant safety standards for equipment.The role will be filled by an experienced Safety-Risk Manager withdetailed technical knowledge of EU machinery safety regulations andbest practice engineering and procedural controls to reduce risk tooperators and maintainers. . Knowledge of robotics and automatedconveyor systems will also be essential to support the procurementand implementation of systems across the network. Emphasis will beon technical knowledge and the ability to engage with crossfunctional teams, transforming this knowledge into sound, compliantprocesses. Responsibilities: You will be supporting a wide range ofprojects being heavily involved in the Capital Approval Reviewprocess, including liaison with other critical support functionssuch as Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering,Operations, Procurement, and New Build/Real Estate teams in orderto effectively deliver the required right first-time machinery andsystems safety standards. This is an important central safety roleand will report directly to the Sr. Manager High Risk Operations(within WHS International Operations) The extent of your dutieswill include: - Define new and update existing technical standardsfor machinery safety and process controls, working closely with EUand North American internal experts. - Provide functional workinglinks with other critical functional teams including; Engineering,Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, Operations,New Build Safety and Real Estate teams. - Support capitalprocurement processes as well as building design, specification andlaunch processes to ensure ‘right first time’ safety outcomes. -Support the delivery of central Health and Safety pro-activeobjectives. - Provide expert input to change projects, build outsand development projects and act as a technical machinery expertfor the EU Health and Safety team. - Generate regular technicalupdates for the Safety Engineering team. - Provide monthly reportson upcoming projects and current in process schemes with clearanalytical measures of status and risk. - Support business changethrough effective influencing of change management processes withininternational operations. - Support Amazon facilities by performingmachinery inspections (including suitable and sufficient riskassessments) of all relevant new machinery and legacy equipment,mentoring and developing other team members whilst doing so. -Support the development of solutions that meet Amazon highstandards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction,efficiency, scalable, simplicity, and operational excellence. -Instruct and train company personnel on safety policies, assistingthe teams in incorporating our safety standards at their respectivesites. -Look for industry innovation for new, safer machinery andrisk reduction measures as well as inspection techniques, tools andopportunities for improving performance and reducing impact tostakeholders in terms of time and cost. - Provide awareness andtargeted training on machinery safety / engineering risk reductionto stakeholders to influence strategic decision making as well asday-to-day operational decisions. GRUNDQUALIFIKATIONEN • Knowledgeof Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level- A Bachelor degree or equivalent level of qualification in linewith the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) - Extensiveexperience of Safety Engineering risk management, mainly focused onmanaging or inspecting machinery safety to EU standards anddirectives BEVORZUGTE QUALIFIKATIONEN • Project ManagementProfessional (PMP) or equivalent certification - Experienceleveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigmamethodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent -Master's degree or equivalent - CMSE – Certified Machinery Expert -FS Engineer – Functional Safety Engineer (IEC 61508 etc).
