As a member of the IT team for ElektroAutomatik in Viersen, every day is different. You are planning upgrade projects, think through the implications of moving applications to the cloud, then you might get interrupted by an urgent IT issue that needs to be fixed to keep the production line running. The first level end user support approaches you to help a user with a more difficult problem. You discuss solutions with your immediate team and may reach out to corporate IT, vendor support or one of your colleagues around the world for collaboration on projects. You arrange your schedule with your coworkers to ensure there is coverage on site while maintaining flexible work schedules.
Responsibilities:
- Second-level support and proactive maintenance of Windows and Linux servers
- Troubleshoot network issues, servers, printers, and end user devices
- Manage system migrations to the cloud
- Plan and manage IT system upgrade and replacement projects
- Liaison between local business users and corporate IT
- Work closely with corporate IT and application IT teams all over the world
- Analyze the business’ IT requirements, develop solutions, prioritize issues
- Handle service requests using our ticket system and hotline
- Create documentation

- Completed vocational training as an IT specialist (system integration) or another IT-related degree, e.g. B.Sc., M.Sc.)
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows (server) operating systems
- Working knowledge of Linux
- Experience administering IT systems
- Familiarity with ITIL principles is desired
Personal skills
- Willingness to become familiar with business applications in order to provide application support
- Interest in problem-solving, project management and finding proactive solutions
- Proficient in German and English, both written and spoken
