Network Security Engineer (Fortinet & Cisco)

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:


  • Oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Cisco and Palo Alto-based environments, including LAN, WAN, and Wireless networks. Collaborate with networking vendors to ensure seamless platform integration and optimized performance.
  • Lead and participate in the installation and expansion of network systems and equipment for new facilities. Test, troubleshoot, analyze performance, and document infrastructure components.
  • Develop and implement network infrastructure installation procedures to guarantee the effective integration of hardware and software systems. Propose technical strategies to maintain and expand service levels.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze network performance, delivering regular reports and implementing corrective actions to enhance data network efficiency.
  • Provide quick, effective troubleshooting during emergency situations and production outages.
  • Address network incidents reported by management tools, ensuring prompt and effective resolution.
  • Proactively test and upgrade software on network devices to maintain system reliability.
  • Review capacity management reports, identifying and proposing network improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical advice and develop designs for customer network migrations and security improvements.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and telecom providers to escalate and resolve network incidents.
  • Create, maintain, and update comprehensive network documentation.
  • Recommend improvements for network management tools, configurations, and human activities.
  • Analyze reporting data for accuracy before submission to the Service Delivery Manager.
  • Stay updated on vendor products and solution advancements to maintain technical expertise.


Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in networking with expertise in Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto technologies.
  • Proven experience working in ITIL-structured environments with a strong understanding of Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
  • Extensive experience deploying and managing complex Cisco and Fortinet environments, including Routing & SD-WAN, Catalyst & Nexus Switching, Wireless, ASA/Firepower/FortiGate Firewalls, PRIME, and ISE.
  • Expertise in implementing and supporting routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and VRRP.
  • Hands-on experience using protocol analyzers like Wireshark for traffic analysis and capacity management.
  • Strong incident report writing and documentation skills using MS Word and MS Visio.
  • Proficiency in handling Meraki Wireless, Firewalls, SD-WAN, Cisco ACI, and IT enterprise products.
  • Ability to interpret wireless (Wi-Fi) site survey reports and optimize wireless radio management.
  • Possession of at least one of the following technical certifications:
  • Cisco CCNP R&S / Security / Wireless
  • Cisco CCIE R&S / Security / Wireless
  • Fortinet NSE 6 or higher
  • Palo Alto Certified
  • F5 Certified
  • Fluent German
  • Meraki Certified Network Operator
  • Familiarity with ITIL V3 framework and best practices.
