CFD Modelling Engineer, Hamburg (On-Site)

FS Dynamics in Hamburg continues to expand. Our team has several exciting multiphysics modeling challenges in the fields of multiphase flows, fluid structure interaction (FSI), rarefied gases, plasma physics and acoustics at ever smaller scales (milli-Kelvin, micro-meter), pushing the boundary of existing CFD codes.

In a short period of time our CFD team in Hamburg has grown to become one of the leading CFD knowledge centres in northern Germany. Strengthening this position requires more highly qualified and motivated people.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled CFD Modelling Expert to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fluid dynamics, heat&mass transfer and thermodynamics.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement computational models to simulate different industrial processes
• Collaborate with customer to validate and optimize simulation results.
• Analyse simulation data to gain insights into physics mechanisms and guide customer’s experimental efforts.
• Stay up to date with advancements in CFD modelling techniques and software tools.
• Contribute to the development of new methodologies together with CFD and FEM teams.

Requirements:

• MSc. or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• You have in-depth knowledge of the design of molecular and continuum fluid dynamics systems as well as the modeling of flow simulation methods
• Hands-on experience with STAR-CCM+ CFD tool (or other Commercial CFD Tools) and Matlab.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Fluent in English (German is a plus)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Acoustics and/or Plasma modelling and/or Molecular Dynamics (LAMMPS or VASP) and/or Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) and/or Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM)
• Experience in multiphase flow modelling and/or surface chemistry.
• Knowledge of surface characterization techniques such as XPS, AFM, and TEM.
• Experience with software development and scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
