Firmware Engineer - Automotive Industry

As a Firmware Engineer in Reutlingen, Germany, you’ll become an integral part of a collaborative team, working alongside talented engineers to develop, enhance, and maintain cutting-edge firmware for new product introductions and application development.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Actively participate in cross-functional project teams to drive new product launches and application development.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, software, and systems engineers to deliver robust firmware solutions.
  • Design, adapt, and port firmware across different processor architectures (e.g., PIC, ARM), including coordination with external development partners.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive firmware testing protocols and support end-of-line setups for component and module assembly.
  • Maintain and improve existing automotive firmware, partnering with quality and operations teams to address customer feedback and ensure continuous product improvement.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and define improvements for device failures.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Embedded C for ARM, RISC-V, PIC, and AVR architectures.
  • Proven experience in automotive firmware development.
  • Solid knowledge of communication protocols such as LIN, I2C, SPI, CAN, and Serial.
  • Experience with Git version control.
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE processes and functional safety standards (e.g., ASIL) is a plus.
  • Practical, hands-on problem-solving skills.
  • Electronics knowledge is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills in English; German language skills are preferred for collaboration with external partners.
