We are seeking a skilled and pragmatic Labor Attorney with in-depth knowledge of German labor law and practical experience supporting complex workforce environments, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial sector. This role will partner closely with HR, Legal, and operational leaders to manage employee relations, collective labor issues, and compliance across our German sites and support broader EMEA labor strategies.


Hybrid working schedule, working location could be Selb, Itzehoe, Landshut, or any Vishay Germany locations


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on all aspects of German labor and employment law, including individual and collective employment matters, warning letters, dismissals, restructuring, and workplace regulations.
  • Draft and negotiate employment contracts, termination agreements, works council agreements and internal HR policies.
  • Serve as the key legal contact for works councils, union representatives, and collective bargaining discussions, ensuring compliance and fostering constructive relationships.
  • Support HR in managing performance, disciplinary actions, grievance handling, and internal investigations.
  • Guide the business through restructuring, site transitions, or workforce adjustments, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate with external counsel on complex legal proceedings or litigation as needed.
  • Monitor legal developments in German labor law and EU employment regulations, providing timely updates and training to HR and leadership.
  • Collaborate with Legal and HR colleagues across Europe on cross-border employment issues and harmonization efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified German lawyer with successful completion of both state examinations (Volljurist).
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in labor/employment law, with preference for a mix of law firm and in-house roles in industrial or manufacturing settings.
  • Proven experience handling works councils, collective bargaining, and legal support for operational HR.
  • Strong knowledge of German labor legislation, co-determination laws, and EU employment directives.
  • Fluent in German and English (written and spoken); additional European languages are a plus.


Preferred Skills:

  • Deep understanding of employment issues specific to manufacturing environments, such as shift work, production shutdowns, and workforce safety regulations.
  • Comfortable navigating complex employee relations and high-volume personnel matters.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
