Job Description Job Title - Compliance Manager Team - Compliance Department for TSL GmbH Location - Site based at German data centre projects Introduction & Requirements: TSL GmbH in Germany, a construction specialist in data centre projects and other industrial buildings, has a role opening for a Compliance Manager in the Berlin region. For this role the Candidate needs to have the following background, qualifications, skill sets and work experience: General all-round building construction and engineering skills for either data centre, distribution warehouse, pharmaceutical or cold storage buildings. An education in mechanical & electrical engineering or technical building services (Technische Gebäudeausrüstung) is preferred. Developed solid technical building experience in previous roles/projects, identifying root causes to complex construction issues, rectifying/seeing issues through to s successful completion/resolution. Developed project management expertise in a fast-paced construction project environment, with the ability to use one of the common PM tools, like MS-Project or Primavera. Possesses very good report writing skills, including the recording & tracking of important actions and defects. Strong MS-Excel user skills are required for preparing tracking sheets that are used to drive activities to a successful completion. Acquired good management ability from previous roles to function/liaise with international & multi-cultural clients, consultants and subcontractors. Is fluent in both German and English, spoken and written. Has the experience to operate within company cost control structures and project programme restraints to ensure work is delivered to the expected quality. These are valuable skills required for supporting TSL GmbH’s Compliance Department with adhering to the German building laws, regulations and standards in delivering its data centre projects. Work Responsibilities: As a TSL Compliance Manager, the Candidate would have the following work responsibilities: Ensure that all projects are conducted and completed in a regulatory compliant manner for the particular German state (Bundesland) in which the project is being delivered. Ensure that all projects are executed in compliance with the conditions set out in the building permit (Baugenehmigung), the fire protection concept (Brandschutzkonzept) and various other concepts/reports issued by the local Building Authorities. Ensure that relevant expert-witness inspectors (Prüfsachverständiger) have been engaged, for legal acceptance of all life safety systems. Follow up on the defects listed in the inspection report until final completion. Ensure that the designated fire/structural/thermal/noise/fuel/environmental officers (Gutachter) have been appointed, to ensure final building acceptance. Ensure that the environmental protection (BImSchG) permit conditions are adhered to and fulfilled as set out by regional Environmental Authorities (Regierungspräsidium). Contact local Building Authorities regarding permitting requirements. Engage the local Fire Brigade/Department (Brandschutzdienststelle) for their signoffs. Submit the required notifications for start of construction, building completion and request for operation. Conduct regular site visits, attending inspections and collecting/submitting documentary evidence to prove their compliance. Overseeing the implementation and conducting of regulatory inspections and filing documentation with the relevant bodies. Internal communicating with employees in other departments and support them regarding their compliance responsibilities. Supporting construction site team, commercial and quality departments. Activities also include ensuring that final delivered building/facility is compliant with the client’s contractual/business/operational requirements. Develop engineering/technology knowledge used in data centre buildings as well as building services plant knowledge, i.e. mechanical, electrical and fire protection required for most technical buildings. The Candidate will obtain on-the-job training/coaching for the above requirements, under the guidance of the Head of Compliance, in order to fully meet TSL standards over the initial 6-month probationary period.
