This professional is responsible for translating, copy editing or reviewing complex patent/legal materials from English into Brazilian Portuguese, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy of the deliverables to client. This role works closely with Quality, Program Squads, Talent, vendors and other stakeholders to provide precise language support for patent-related matters. This professional ensures that the expected level of translation quality is maintained, and the product delivered to the client should always meet its intended purpose, while closely monitoring that translation expenses remain within budget.The Brazilian Portuguese Patent Language Lead understands legal requirements and engages the production team in the fulfillment of these requirements, crafting client solutions based on the Welo Global Four Pillars of Customer Service, Quality, Innovation and Global Teamwork. MAIN RESPONSABILITIESThe following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and areas of ownership for this role:Performing copy-edit tasks on assigned projects or accountsPerforming on-demand translation tasksPerforming lead linguist role on assigned accountsTaking ownership of deliveries that were translated internally or by external partners for one or more accounts into their target languagePreparing, managing and maintaining the language materials (including glossaries, Style Guides, work instruction) up to the quality standards and up to date as required by the account or projectManaging project-related queriesEnsuring good interaction among team members and resolving questions on terminology and language mattersCoordinating with freelancers, agencies and internal linguists on assigned projects or accountsTesting and qualifying new freelancers and vendors as requiredDeveloping and training of internal linguists/new and existing freelancers according to the accounts’ and Welocalize’s needsInteracting with clients on linguistic matters as requiredParticipating in the development of new and improved working processes. Propose process improvements.Meet or exceed the KPIs in terms of productivity, on time delivery, qualityAchieving the goals set by the team managerREQUIREMENTSEducation Level University degree in Translation/Applied Languages/Linguistic Studies or equivalent combination of education and experience (University degree in other fields plus 2 years of full time experience in translation; OR 5 years of full time professional experience in translating)ExperienceNative-Level in Brazilian Portuguese and fluent in English (written and spoken)Patent translation experience and patent knowledge are critical for success in this role (e.g. types of patent documents: computer science, mechanics, biology, electricity, pharmacy, chemistry)8+ years of relevant experience in translation/localization/editing or content writing5+ years of review experienceThorough understanding of the localization processExcellent knowledge of terminology used various subject mattersSubject-matter expert within company for assigned content specialties, service lines and processesExcellent user experience of standard CAT tools, e.g. XTM, SDL Studio and issue tracking and query management tools, e.g. JIRAAbility to learn new localization tools and applications quicklyExcellent user experience of standard software, such as Windows and Office applicationsAbility to give clear, concise and constructive feedbackAbility to coordinate internal and external translatorsExcellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skillsAbility and willingness to train/teach others and pass on knowledge.Ability to work with tight deadlinesExcellent problem solving skillsAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, linguistsAbility, willingness and experience in communicating with customers at various levelsAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to work in a virtual teamWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
